Simultaneous interpreting: The listener hears the speaker in their own language (as spoken by the interpreter) through the use of an audio-receiver earphone. Interpreters sit in a special booth and work in 15-minute intervals; a three-hour speech requires at least two interpreters. Longer durations require three or four interpreters.

Consecutive interpreting: The speaker pauses at regular intervals to allow the interpreter to speak. A one-hour speech requires one hour of interpretation. One interpreter is sufficient for a duration of up to three hours, but longer periods require additional interpreters.

Whispering: In meetings, the least obtrusive method is to have the interpreter whisper in the listener's ear. The interpreter performs consecutive interpreting when required to speak out loud.

Interpreting Equipment: Unicul can provide the special equipment needed for simultaneous interpreting. For negotiations or company meetings with over 15 participants, Unicul recommends the use of microphones and a basic interpreting system. We will propose a set-up based on the venue and number of participants.
